You Are Amazing - Fundraising Goals!
by posted 11/07/2021

FURY FAMILY, YOU’RE AMAZING!

Through our four fall fundraisers... our program fundraised a total $9,538.58 benefitting the Girls Lacrosse Club of Frisco and other charitable causes.

Thank you to all our families and fellow lacrosse programs who donated money, time, resources to make this happen! The GLCOF Board of Directors appreciates the continued support for this program, so your daughters continue to have a meaningful and successful experience playing the sport of lacrosse.

The breakdown of the final numbers is in the graphic above.

The GLCOF Board has a fundraising goal of $20,000 through the end of the upcoming spring season. Combined totals from the two fundraisers that our organization specifically benefitted from this fall -- Fury Casino Night and North Texas Giving Day -- generated 6,941.46. That means we still need to fundraise just over $13,000. This goal will help offset the missed fundraising opportunities in 2020 and spring 2021 because of COVID.

Please continue reading to learn more about the ways GLCOF is fundraising during the off-season and year-round.  If you would like help with a spring fundraiser or find out more about all the opportunities below, please email  .

COWBOYS GAME RAFFLE -  BUY NOW

Please help GLCOF collect $20 donations. Each $20 donation will allow one entry into the raffle for a pair of club-level seats at AT&T Stadium for the January 2, 2022, Dallas Cowboys – Arizona Cardinals football game. The tickets come with parking and food and drinks. There’s no limit on how many raffle tickets one person can purchase. The drawing for the winner is December 19. .

Share this pdf flier with family, friends and co-workers. The QR code on the flier takes them right to the donation form.

Those who donate must fill out the short form at this link.  It’s very important to fill in the name of the Fury player who ‘collected’ the donation.  We are keeping track of the raffle tickets sold. The age group with the most ‘sells’ wins a pre-season pizza party with the coaches. Also, there will be an incentive for the player who sells the most tickets – one from high school, one from youth. The board is working with the programs directors to finalize the incentive. Stay tuned!

Three very important rules we must follow…

  • Only Texas residents can purchase one of our raffle tickets. If you happen to have a relative, friend who lives out of state who wants to participate, they can still donate $20, but your name will need to be filled in as the raffle ticket entry.
  • The game tickets cannot be resold. Violation of such will result in forfeiture of prize and tickets will be voided.
  • To share on social media, please share directly from our feed or copy the wording from our post.

GLCOF Announces New Program Directors for High School and Youth
by posted 06/14/2021

GIRLS LACROSSE CLUB OF FRISCO HIRES NEW COACHING TEAM TO LEAD
HIGH SCHOOL AND YOUTH PROGRAMS

The Girls Lacrosse Club of Frisco (GLCOF) Board of Directors announces two new coaches to lead its Frisco Fury high school and youth programs with the goal of continued growth and success of the program. Both hires are familiar names to girls lacrosse in North Texas.

  • Pam (Sagehorn) Henry is the new Program Director for high school and youth.
  • Amy Fortney becomes the new Assistant Program Director with a focus at the high school level.

Pam Henry will be the head coach of the Frisco Fury DI Varsity team and 7/8 youth team in addition to her Program Director duties. Henry most recently held the Girls Program Director title in McKinney and led the McKinney Varsity team to win the DII TGHSLL North District title and State Championship in spring 2021. In 2016, her first year with McKinney, she led the team to the district playoffs and quarterfinals at the state tournament. The team became the 2018 D1 Aggieland Champions. Prior to McKinney she held other coaching positions outside of Texas and around the Dallas area including the youth girls’ program director for Frisco Lacrosse Association. Henry is a native of Bridgewater, NJ and a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University (NJ), where she was a two-sport athlete in both lacrosse and basketball. [ Read Coach Pam’s full bio. ]

Amy Fortney will also coach at the high school level. Before joining GLCOF, Amy Fortney most recently worked as the Plano Premiere Girls Lacrosse Program Director and Head Varsity Coach since 2015, leading the team to the TGHSLL DII state tournament four times from 2015-2019. The Varsity Plano Premier team went to District and State semifinals in 2016, were the North District Championship runner-up and a State semifinalist in 2017, finished second in the North District and second in State in 2018, and then made the Texas State tournament again in 2019. She is a Syracuse, NY native and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of Kansas in 2002 before obtaining her master’s degree in education in 2005 from Kansas. She is the special education department head at Plano Senior High School.  [ Read Coach Amy's full bio. ]

Claire McCain also remains a vital part of the high school coaching team. She’s coached all levels of the Fury’s high school teams, JV, D2 and DI since joining the GLCOF program in 2018. McCain is a 2017 graduate of the University of Colorado, where she played DI lacrosse as a midfielder and defender. [ Read Coach Claire’s full bio. ]

Both hires address recent vacancies for high school and youth program directors. High School Program Director Kailah Kempney moved out-of-state in January with Coach Claire McCain stepping up to lead the high school program for spring 2021.  This month GLCOF’s one-and-only Youth Program Director, Beth King, gave her resignation to the board. She will continue to serve as a co-commissioner for the Texas Girls Youth Lacrosse League and helping the sport of girls lacrosse grow in North Texas.

“I’ve made this decision because I want to be around and available for my son’s upcoming senior year in high school, and I would also like to be completely present for my daughter’s high school lacrosse playing experience,” said Coach Beth King. “I have fully enjoyed over a decade of growing the game of girls lacrosse in Frisco and often feel as though I get as much from the girls as I give. I am excited about the future of the Frisco Fury.  I’ve known Coach Pam & Coach Amy for as long as I’ve been coaching in Frisco, and they are going to be a fantastic addition to our program.  I look forward to helping them make a smooth, consistent transition into the program. I will always be the Fury’s biggest fan!”

“Coach Beth has been the heart of GLCOF, and the Fury Family has so much gratitude for the way she built the youth program. Her leadership and contributions will positively impact the program for years to come,” said Melanie McElroye, President – GLCOF Board of Directors. “We anticipate continued growth and success in this new chapter with Coach Pam and Coach Amy taking the lead. Their combined experience will help us meet our goal of developing players who are successful on the field and in life.”

A FEW WORDS FROM OUR COACHES

Pam Henry

Amy Fortney
GLCOF Assistant Program Director & High School Coach

“I am so grateful and excited for this new opportunity with the Frisco Fury family! Fury has developed a strong program over the past years, with dedicated players and families. To have an opportunity to help lead this program into the next phase and continue to build on their success along with Pam is a once in a lifetime opportunity. We can’t wait to get started!”

Claire McCain
High School Coach

“I couldn’t be more excited for the direction this program is headed in. The strong foundation that has been built over the past several years will be taken to new heights with Pam and Amy leading the way. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work with both of them and continue to grow the sport of girls lacrosse in Frisco."
